Sheley Residence

The concept for this new home in Eastern Washington was centered on designing an industrial farm house with a strong connection to the outdoors.

The home is sited in a valley and draws upon materials that are common to traditional agricultural buildings in Eastern Washington. The house is composed of a series of small buildings that are interconnected by open breezeways or glass gaskets. Rooms open onto the courtyard by garage and double doors, creating a dynamic oasis within the house. The shifting of the building volumes shapes the courtyard and protects the home from the elements while opening views out towards the surrounding hillside.
